Who we are

UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE MAGWAY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (UMMGAA)

About Us

The University of Medicine, Magway (UMMG) was established in May 2001 with the first intake from different States and Regions except for Yangon and Mandalay, in Myanmar. The UMMG has been the fourth medical university in Myanmar to train medical doctors and one of the best benefits from the UMMG is its alumni who are diverse and able to diffuse across the country including the remote places in delivering medical services but not limited to the public health and development-oriented. There have been 4,000+ graduates from the UMMG as of 2020 counting 2001 intake to 2013 intake. Many of them are working in the community in different positions ranging from the direct medical service providers in the local context to program managers and strategic/technical advisors in the health and development area in the international context.

The University of Medicine Magway Alumni Association (UMMGAA ) has been founded in 2012 with the alumni doctors who graduated from the University of Medicine Magway. The aim of the UMMG Alumni Association was initially to conduct continuous professional development activities such as seminars, workshops, and sharing among alumni and other medical professionals, and to organize engagement events such as annual gatherings, teacher homage ceremonies.

As of July 2021, the University of Medicine Magway Alumni Association (UMMGAA) has re-organized low-profile with its vast network of alumni of 800+ young medical doctors in which experts in clinical service provision together with public health and development oriented professionals are appointed as the pro bono members who are standing for federal democracy, peace and human rights. The association supports the community with essential medical services, and financial and humanitarian assistance for Emergency Food, NFIs and Shelter to displaced people who leave their homes due to political crisis, armed conflicts and violence across Myanmar, especially in Chin, Kayin, Kayah States, and Magway and Sagaing Regions.
