About Us
The University of Medicine Magway Alumni Association – UMMGAA is a locally led humanitarian and health organization founded by medical professionals from Myanmar’s Magway Region. What began as an alumni network has, since July 2021, undergone rapid professionalization to become a frontline provider of essential health and humanitarian services in some of Myanmar’s most conflict-affected and hard-to-reach communities. The association operates as a non-governmental, non-partisan, non-profit organization supporting its alumni professionals and the local communities affected by the coup and conflicts. All staff and management are Myanmar nationals. Many are medical professionals with deep roots in the communities they serve. This local identity is not incidental — it is UMMGAA’s most critical operational asset. It enables safe, discreet access where external actors cannot go, and it sustains community trust even as security conditions shift.
The UMMGAA aims to be recognized as a quality service provider for society and strengthen itself to transform into a gender responsive organization in the field of humanitarian assistance.

The UMMGAA envisions to uplift the health and wellbeing of Myanmar society through

Organization
The Board of Directors lead and direct the overall performance of UMMGAA program. The executive team has over 20 volunteers who are running for management, administrative, finance and logistics support.
30+ field medical teams are providing Primary Health Care, Emergency Medical Response and Humanitarian Assistance (Cash support for Emergency Food, NFIs, and Shelter) to people in conflict affected areas in Magway, Sagaing, and Chin.
